About
My name is Matan.
I didn't come to Buddhism because I was looking for a philosophy. I came because life stopped making sense in the ways I was used to understanding it.
Over the years, Zen has become less about finding answers and more about learning how to stay with the questions.
This website is a collection of that ongoing practice.
I write about Zen, meditation, impermanence, grief, identity, and the ordinary moments where practice quietly meets everyday life. Sometimes those reflections come from sitting on a cushion. Sometimes they come from raising children, navigating loss, or simply noticing the mind trying to hold on to something that is already changing.
I don't consider myself a teacher. I'm a student who has found value in sharing the path as honestly as I can.
Many of the ideas here are inspired by Soto Zen, the writings of teachers who have influenced me, and my own experience of practice. They are not presented as truths to believe, but as invitations to investigate for yourself.
If there is a common thread running through everything on this site, it is simple:
How do we meet this moment without needing it to be different?
I'm still learning.
